Monday 4th July Fussen to Furstenfeldbruck
As we were a little exhausted from the previous day’s events we headed into Fussen to shop, internet and unwind. We missed the hourly bus and took the 20 minute scenic walk in the heat of the morning and there was plenty of it. The old town is lovely and had heaps of outdoor-dining cafes and as we discovered, if you sit outside one that is shut just to get out of the heat, all the passerby’s will get excited and think it is open; god knows why a café would be shut between 11.00am and 2.00pm.
Having broken the bottle recycling machine in Fussen and pissing the checkout operator off by not handing over the refund credits until after she closed off the till, we headed off to a parking spot near Dachau. This required lots of driving in rural Germany where solar panels cover most of the roofs’ and they even had paddocks of them, obviously another Government promoted scheme. The parking spot was in the motorhome-friendly town of Furstenfeldbruck which is close to a pool and a monastery. They provide all services in a dedicated car park for an honesty box 'fair donation'. We did a small walk to the monastery and the Pavilion beach near the river.
